Tour Plan
Start with pickup from your hotel or the airport in Kigali. Meet your driver-guide who will brief you about the itinerary for the 2-day tour. First, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Learn about the horrors of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, which claimed the lives of members of the Tutsis and Twa ethnic groups.
Travel north to Volcanoes National Park, located 80 kilometers from Kigali. Visit the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Take some scenic photos and try to spot a variety of native birds who inhabit the marshlands. Enjoy an overnight stay in your hotel, where you can rest for the second day.
After an early morning breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch. Enter the forest and begin your quest to spot gorillas in their natural habitat. Depending on the movements of the gorillas, this portion of the tour can take between 2 and 6 hours. Once you spot these amazing animals, enjoy up to one hour of observing their behaviour. Afterwards, be returned to your hotel in Kigali.
